Ebudhia (2011) said Women in ancient India were held in high esteem. But with the passage of time, their status deteriorated. They are exposed to many social issues like Polygamy, dowry, sati, female infanticide and many more. Further to this Chowdhury (2011) in her article, mentioned about the global study that was conducted by Thomson Reuters which revealed the shocking fact that India is the “fourth most dangerous country” in the world for women.
Even after all these hardships, women have come out to be very strong. Some examples of it are Rani Lakshmi Bai, Sarojini Naidu, Kalpana Chawla, Indira Gandhi, Kiran Bedi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, etc. All these women’s have achieved great heights in different fields be it political or entertainment or scientific. We all know about these famous figures who has done great things for the country in one way or the other, but there are many others who are not in the lime light but have achieved great success.
